About Harvey Tanks
Harvey Tanks was established in 1950 when Cecil Harvey started his family business manufacturing concrete tanks and other precast concrete products. Cecil Harvey’s first water tank from 1950 is still operating problem-free in the Winton area today – a real testament to the durability and long-life of Harvey Tanks’ products.
Rhys Harvey is the third generation of Harveys to manufacture quality tanks in the lower South Island, and he’s proud that the business is still leading the field in Concrete Tanks.
Why Harvey Tanks?
Harvey Tanks use a solid concrete manufacturing process for their tanks and other precast products.
Most other manufacturers typically create their tanks by hand-plastering a number of thin layers of plaster over several days.
By contrast, Harvey Tanks use the GUNITE, or Shotcrete, method of construction. This produces a solid concrete product which is superior in both durability and appearance.
By being made of concrete, not plaster, Harvey Tanks are stronger and more durable than similar products.
If you’re comparing concrete tanks and plastic tanks, concrete water tanks:
- keep water cool
- are undamaged by the sun’s UV rays
- won’t blow away when empty
- keep the water dark so algal growth is discouraged
- can be partially or fully buried
- have a longer product life
